John Middlebrough (c1748-1830)

• he married Thomasin Hall at Burnsall on 2nd September 1777. She was buried at Colne on 13th July 1805, aged 58.
• they had seven children:
  1. James Middlebrouk was baptised at Conistone on 12th May 1778, but was buried there on 1st October 1778.
  2. Thomas Middlebrouk was baptised at Conistone on 12th May 1778, but was buried there on 23rd March 1779.
  3. Stephen Middlebrough (1779-1845) was baptised at Conistone on 18th July 1779.
  4. Mally Middlebrough was baptised at Rylstone on 14th July 1782. She married Bernard Preston at Colne on 18th September 1809.
  5. James Middlebrough was buried at Rylstone on 4th May 1785.
  6. Thomas Middlebrouk, a weaver, was baptised at Conistone on 5th August 1787. He married Betty Crabtree at Colne on 11th June 1812 and they had a son:
     1. Richard Middlebrough was buried at Colne on 31st August 1812, aged 2 weeks.
     Betty was buried at Colne on 4th February 1812, aged 25. Thomas later lodges with children of his sister Mally (Mary Preston).
  7. Ann Middlebrouk was baptised at Conistone on 28th May 1790. She married Abraham Medcalfe at Colne on 22nd September 1814.

Stephen Middlebrough (1779-1845)

• was the eldest surviving son of John Middlebrough.
• was baptised at Conistone on 18th July 1779.
• he worked as a joiner.
• he probably died in 1845.
• he married Ann Cook at Colne on 17th June 1802.
• they had thirteen children:
  1. Mary Middlebrough was buried at Colne on 24th October 1802, aged 3 weeks.
  2. Grace Middlebrough was born on 3rd November 1803 and baptised at Colne on 27th of the same month. She married ? Diggle.
  3. Betty Middlebrough was born on 12th April 1806 and baptised at Colne on 25th May. She married John Boothman at Colne on 28th December 1823.
  4. Thomasin Middlebrough was born on 12th April 1806 and baptised at Colne on 25th May. She married John Whittam at Colne on 29th October 1827.
  5. John Middlebrough (1809-1866) was baptised at Colne on 12th March 1809.
  6. Ann Middlebrough was born on 30th November 1810 and baptised at Colne on 23rd.
  7. Mary Middlebrough was baptised at Colne on 4th April 1813, but buried there on 6th March 1814.
  8. Ellen Middlebrough was baptised at Colne on 19th March 1815, but buried there on 26th January 1817.
  9. Margaret Middlebrough was baptised at Colne on 2nd February 1817.
  10. Martha Middlebrough was baptised at Colne on 2nd February 1817.
  11. William Middlebrough was baptised on 28th March 1819. He married Margaret Green at Bury on 31st May 1849 and they had three children:
      1. Ann Jane Middleborough was born at Bury in 1851. She married in 1873.
      2. Stephen Middleborough was born at Bury in 1854.
      3. Ruth Middleborough was born at Bury in 1856.
      William was a mechanic. He died at Bury in 1863.

  13. Stephen Middlebrough was baptised at Colne on 13th February 1825.

John Middlebrough (1809-1866)

• was the eldest son of Stephen Middlebrough.
• was baptised at Colne on 12th March 1809.
• he worked as a mechanic or iron-turner.
• he died at Chorlton in 1866, aged 59.
• he married Sarah.
• they had eight children:
  1. Elijah Middleborough was born c1832.
  2. Stephen Middleborough was baptised on 3rd March 1833 at Bury. He married Martha Barlow on 1st September 1856 at Manchester.
  3. Joseph Middleborough (c1835-1857) was born c1835 at Rochdale.
  4. Martha Middleborough was born c1838, but presumably died before 1854.
  5. James Middleborough was born in 1841 at Manchester. He married Hannah Dentith in 1862 and they had a daughter:
     1. Hannah Middlebrough was born at Chorlton in 1863. She married Fred Shaw in 1885.
     James was a millwright. He died in 1909, aged 67.
  6. John Middleborough was baptised on 4th July 1847 at Manchester.
  7. Mary Ann Middleborough was born in 1850.
  8. Martha Middleborough was born c1854.

Joseph Middleborough (c1835-1857)

• was the son of John Middlebrough.
• was born c1835 at Rochdale, Lancashire.
• he worked as a mechanic.
• he died in 1857, within a year of his marriage.
• he married Tobiatha Brewerton at Manchester on 1st January 1857.
• they had a son:
  1. Joseph Middleborough (1858-1911) was born at Ardwick and baptised on 11th July 1858 at Manchester.

Joseph Middleborough (1858-1911)

• was the only child of Joseph Middleborough.
• was born at Ardwick and baptised on 11th July 1858 at Manchester.
• he died in 1911, aged 55.
• he married Mary Williamson Syers in 1879.
• they had five children:
